Help us serve you better by giving us an OTFD
What is an OTFD?
Open the Front Door—or OTFD—stands for the four steps of providing feedback:
observation, thoughts, feelings, and desire.
On this page, you get the opportunity to use the OTFD method to give feedback to the #Bulletproof team.
Why give us feedback? (No feedback doesn't mean "no feedback", does it?)
1. "No feedback" could be a sign of disinterest. Are we not doing well?
2. Are you shy or don’t know how to give feedback?
3. Do you tell or complain to your family or friends when you’re happy or unhappy about something?
4. Maybe we did a great job, let us know so that we can keep it up!
How to give us feedback
Watch this video to understand more about how OTFD works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fu0EVjIE8M&t=6s
For example, we were supposed to start the Zoom meeting at noon, and it’s now 12:45. This is a statement of fact, not a judgment or conclusion—merely data.
1) In the first step, “OBSERVATION”, tell us what happened in a factual, objective, fly-on-the-wall way in order to get everyone on the same page.
2) Next, share your “THOUGHTS” about what occurred. Using “I” statements, you can express your thoughts or opinions about what occurred.
For example: I’m wondering what happened, and why you didn’t let me know you were going to be late.
For example: I'm feeling frustrated and a little hurt that you didn’t care enough to let me know you were going to be late.
3) Then we share your “FEELINGS”, also using “I” statements.
4) Finally, sharing your “DESIRE" to allow you to express the outcome you'd like to see from this feedback.
For example: in the future, I’d like you to let me know in advance if you’re going to be late.
Now you’re ready to leave us an OTFD!
You can keep the OTFD anonymous, however, we'd appreciate it if you could leave your name so that we can better address the feedback. Thank you!
